We are currently beginning the process of working on the new SEA database, and this is achieved by cloning Global's new database, merge it with what we've done so far with SEA, and then make the necessary changes in the renaming of items/characters/monsters/etc, followed by correcting the item drops to SEA's. This isn't a popular route to go with when we chose to re-work MapleSEA's database, but it is by far the easiest and simplest way to go with. We have taken too long than we had anticipated to finish the Global database, and we certainly don't want a repeat of that on MapleSEA—we hope that you'll understand our rationale.

With this, we're opening up applications for Database Moderators for the SEA database. Hidden Street's databases have always been for Maplers, by Maplers, and without your help, our database will remain outdated and incomplete. If you have some time to spare, especially with the holiday season around the corner, and interested to update and work on SEA's database, please e-mail us your application to apply [at] hidden-street [dot] net. You should be fairly proficient in English, and understand basic HTML. As a note, we tend to prefer our DB Mods to be reasonably mature, so if your application to us is anything similar to "plz let me be db mod", your chances will diminish somewhat.

Within perhaps two weeks, expect that our 'beta' version of the new MapleSEA database to be released. It will be a huge work in progress, but we welcome any information/help that you may have to assist us.

Firstly, we'd like to apologise for the lack of updates on our SEA database. At the moment we're trying to complete the Global database before we move on to working on the SEA database - rest assured that we're not abandoning it.

We've now set up a month-long trial of that platform for you to ask a question, share an idea, report problems, errors or corrections you'd like us to make to our database, or if you'd like, leave a praise. It's a convenient, transparent way for you to see which questions/ideas/problems have been posed before, and if you have similar grouses/ideas/problems and would like to air it too, it's as simple as clicking on a button to indicate it. It would be easy for us to gauge which ideas should be at the top of our priorities, which problems to solve first, the list goes on.

As always, we try to respond to every single feedback we get; and if we don't (we have outside lives as well), other users may be able to help you.

Do note that this platform is restricted solely to feedback on Hidden Street and its databases alone, and not the actual game itself, be it MapleStory or La Tale (the forum exists for that very purpose). If this platform works well, we may abolish the Feedback & Suggestions board in our forum as it would very well encompass that as well. Rest assured that the forum will remain as it is, as this feedback platform serves a vastly different purpose than the forum.

Hidden Street will be down temporarily on 4 June 2009 (or 3 June 2009 depending on your timezone, and we've yet to ascertain the exact time) while we do the necessary backup and transfer - as we have mentioned previously, the new server will be better, meaner, and would be able to handle an insane amount of processes we expect would be generated from our future new dynamic MapleStory database.

We don't know exactly how long the propagation will take, but we expect it will take anywhere between 5 to 24 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Just as a quick update: we're currently working at full speed with our new Database Moderator team to transfer the contents of the old database to the new system, and as such, we won't be able to update the old database during this period. We'd only update the database once all data have been successfully transferred, but rest assured, we still read and welcome your e-mails.

Since we are implementing a wiki-based feature to our database as mentioned several posts ago, we are happy to announce that we will be recruiting Maplers to join HS.MapleStory's database team! Having received plenty of e-mails in the past from users who wanted to contribute to the database directly, this would be a great opportunity for those who would like to help us keep the database updated, when previously, all updates done to the database were a 2-men show, hence the rather slow updates. However, in order to maintain and ensure the quality of the database, we would only require a small number of database members, the number of which we have yet to ascertain.

We've been wondering what the best way would be to notify or inform our visitors when we perform what we'd like to term as "trivial updates", and so it hit upon us: Twitter IS the natural choice! We normally only post up news when a major update hits us, so many visitors may not know what other behind-the-scenes updates we may be doing at regular intervals.

"Trivial updates" are termed as such for updates involving: addition of new items/monsters/quests/etc that we have missed out, correction of certain information, etc. However, we may also exclude updating certain trivial updates on Twitter such as the updating of stat ranges, or whatever we feel that need not be announced via Twitter. But do note, however, that whatever we Twit may take up to a few hours to be reflected on the database itself.
